Things I'm packing and eyeing for my summer travels
I’m getting ready (and very excited) for my summer travels to Croatia, Montenegro, and Albania at the end of the month, so naturally I’m thinking about what I’ll be wearing. As much as I’d love to be someone who plans every look months in advance, I’m just not. But this is me trying! Less than 2 weeks before…
So, here’s a quick roundup of the pieces I always pack on warm-weather trips (the no-brainers already in my suitcase), plus a few things I’ve been eyeing for summer in general.
Starting with the essentials: in my everyday life, I’m not much of a hat girl, but that completely changes when I’m traveling. So when I tell you this hat comes with me on every beach vacation…. I mean it. If you read my last post, you know it’s packable (rolls up and stuffs into a suitcase like a dream). Nothing better!
No matter where I’m going, once summer hits, I’m always reaching for button-down shirts. The way I live in sweaters all fall and winter, that’s how I treat button-downs during spring and summer. Poplin, linen, gauze - you name it, I’m probably wearing it. With jeans, linen pants, boxer shorts, or over a bathing suit. It always works. When it comes time to actually pack, the tricky part will be choosing which ones to bring.
Raffia bags are another thing I rotate heavily from June to September, both day-to-day and on vacation. I own five (1, 2, 3, 4 - the 5th one was a market find in Vietnam but this one is similar), and I wear each one of them. All for different occasions.
I love brown anything, but especially in raffia tote form. Mine’s linked above, but I also love this one from Bambien, this Danielle Meucci one, this Cesta one, this Helen Kaminski one, and this J Crew one.
Since this is mostly a beach trip, bathing suits are a given on my packing list, but I wanted to point out how much I love a one piece. I wear bikinis too (especially when I’m trying to get tan), but I really love a good high-cut, low-back one piece.

Shoe wise, I’ll be bringing mostly sandals and ballet flats since that’s what I live in throughout the summer. Specifically I’m thinking about bringing the Lee and Danielle sandals and the Marie ballet flat from my Lenore by Matisse collection, my Khaite mesh ballet flats, my Proenza x Birkenstocks sandals (forever favorite), my Matisse Leo sandals (restocking soon), and my A Emery shel sandals which are no long available, but these are similar and look really good.
Also, sunglasses. Obviously. I’m currently rotating between a pair from Jimmy Fairly and another from Moscot, so I’ll be bringing both.
Other pieces at top of mind that are definitely coming with me: this Doen top, this Citizens of Humanity blouse, this Eres dress, and this Dissh dress, these Ozma striped pants, Donni linen pants, and the linen tube top.
Now onto some pieces that I’m eyeing:
I’ve been eyeing this Doen skirt for the last several months. It’s sheer, but would be perfect over a bathing suit, but also styled as a skirt with a slip underneath
Obsessed with this shade of blue
The Proenza x Birkenstock sandals are back. I got mine several years ago and they were tough to find for a while. I wear them constantly so I’m tempted to get a second pair
I don’t own one (yet), but I love a sarong moment. I really love the colors of this one
Yet another one piece… love all Lido bathing suits but this silhouette is particularly good
This set screams summer, I couldn’t love it more
A pair of sunglasses I’d love to add to my rotation
